Now I see why some people pay a lawyer to fill out these forms...very confusing at times.

Where do I find my husband's nonimmigrant visa number? Is it the same thing as the control number?

For my fiancee (now wife) did not have a non-immigrant number when I filed the 129F so I put a N/A

Another quick question, how long after you sent the completed 485, 765 did it take to have the Resident status & working papers?

For your original question: Are you talking about the I-485? For that I used the Control number, A friend later told me that the actual VISA number is the one in red but USCIS accepts seems to accept both numbers ( I guess they can look for themselves on the photocopy that you send with the I-485)


Ead Card arrived in about two months
I filed the I-485 and I-765 Late November our Green card interview was early march.
You can get a social security number without the EAD card. Just bring in the marriage certificate but it will have a big warning above the number about not being able to work without proper authorization from immigration (EAD number).



We are still working on the green card (permanent resident status). We had a small problem with the medical (form I-693). The instructions will say that you only need the vaccination report portion completed (if you just had a medical report done within the last year for a VISA) but at the interview they want every line completed by the civil surgeon in the US. Crazy. I showed the instructions but still they want a full report.

We went back to the same civil surgeon and mailed in the form. We were told that it should be another 3 weeks after they receive the new medical.

Do it how you will but I will tell my friends just have a full medical along with the vaccination report for the I-693.
