HELP - VISA envelope!

My fiance just received a purple envelope from the London Embassy yesterday, which we assume is carrying his passport and Visa. He is unsure if he can open this envelope to get his passport out and that there is another brown envelope inside which is the one containing the Visa documents for his arrival into the United States, that he is not allowed to open himself. He is set to arrive on Tuesday so he isn't sure what to do, as he believes he is going to need his passport to actually leave Manchester airport on Tuesday!!

Does anyone know if there is another envelope instead his purple package, that is carrying his Visa documents???!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

We had two packets inside. One my wife's visa in her passport and another that was clearly marked - DO NOT OPEN. Make sure you do not pack that sealed envelop in checked baggage. You must hand carry in your cabin stuff.

The purple envelope did contain his mysterious brown envelope inside it! So everything worked out in the end. My fiance arrived yesterday Now off to get married! Thanks again to everyone who helped me throughout this experience. What a long and windy road but so worth it!!!
