A question on welfare/government benefits

I do not plan on being on benefits when I apply for a K1 visa (am in UK), but I wondered, will having been on benefits within the past 12 months affect the visa process?

If you are the beneficiary from UK your income does not come into it they are concerned about USC finances not yours.
