passport machine readable code smudged a little

I got a new passport after splitting the surname. Everything looks good except a little smudging (due to the lamination on the print) on the bottom machine readable code on the first page. I am supposed to travel to US as soon as possible on H1-B. Will this smudge create any issues. (There is NO problem in any other fields).

Do i need to ask for a passport reprint? (I went to the passport office and they told, this is OK. But, they don't have the machine to check the machine readable code, so since the code was readable quite fine they are confident).

Please help/suggestions.

If you have a valid US visa, you don't need a machine readable passport. I'm sure they've run into this before. Chances are you'll be fine.

I do have a valid visa in my old passport and of course i will be carrying it with me. Thanks a lot for the information.
