H1B Visa Renewal Approved But Passport Has Not Been Dispatched

Dear friends,

I attended the Visa interview last Wednesday(10-oct-2012). The Visa[H1B] renewal has been approved but my passport is still in the USA consolate in Chennai. The website says that the processing should be done in 2 days. When I call the VFS call center, they replied that my passport is safe and they cannot say exactly when I would receive my passport. I am a medical resident and I have strict time constraint. I have postponed my ticket once already.

If anyone has faced this issue, kindly help. I just want to know when I can book my flight ticket if there is a longer delay. Please reply as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, there is no sure way to know for sure. You should not make any travel plans until you get the passport in your hand. It may not always be convenient to you but they don't care.

Hi I gave interview in Mumbai - on 11th oct. Visa H1b is approved and my passport is still in Mumbai Consulate. Which website you checked where it says processing should be done in 2 days? Same was the reply for me from VFS call center.I am also waiting from my passport and worried. When I check the status it says Passport is still with post. let me know if any updates.
