My wife is in the US and unfortunately she has the original marriage certificate with her. I have an appointment for H4 VISA in chennai consulate coming up soon, even if she sends it by fedex it will not reach on time. Is original marriage certificate mandatory? I have a copy of it and i also have wedding photographs. Please advise.

Well,, the interview is day after tomorrow. DHL or anyother courier service will not help. If its mandatory then i am planning to no show and reschedule.

It depends on VO, sometimes they ask for original and sometimes not. Nowadays it is advised to carry all original documents when going for stamping.
If you can postpone your appointment and go with original , that's better. OR you can take a chance with the copy which is not quite good idea.Comment

It is good to carry original marriage certificate but VO may or may not ask. It's your call.
