H1B extension approved but no receipt notice yet for H4

Hi, I am not sure whether this is normal, my employer filed my H1B extension together with my wife's H4 on Aug/12, and I got to know today that my H1 extension has been approved from USCIS website, but my employer told they havn't received the receipt # for my wife's H4 extension...

is this normal? can I call USCIS to get the status of the H4 extension?

so who should I contact now, my empoyer or USCIS?

my employer told me I can contact USCIS directly for the H4 receipt number, but when we called them they asked me to send my query to an USCIS email address [email protected] ... I havn't got any reply from them yet....
