Help with H1B Visa filing

Hello,

I have a question regarding H1B visa filing. Can my future employer file for my H1B in April next year and can I join them only if I get the H1 in next year October. Also, is it necessary to accept the offer from my future employer before filing which means I will have to resign from my current job or can I continue with my current job until then.
Any info regarding this is highly appreciated.

Currently I am in US in L1A visa....which has expired in June 2012, but I have an I94 till Dec 2013. My current company is not filing my extension and transferring me back to India. So, I am looking for all options ands gathering as much info as possible.

You don't have to resign until Oct 1.
On Oct 1, you will need to leave L1 employer and join H1 employer if the H1 petition is approved with change of status and if you are in the US at that time.

Thankyou kabkaba for all the info. But what if I am india and not US, since I am moving back to india in Jan. So, even if does this hold good.
Also, can more than one employer file for my H1 from india.

Any number of employers can file H1 petition for you. You can only work for any one of them.
