I was working with H1B visa till middle of May'2005 with an university,from June'2001. I joined in a company in May'2005 when the company applied for my extension of H1B. The petition was rejected and I was told that I'm out of status and have to wait till 1st October'2005.. Now, the company has applied for B2 visa to keep me in the country. After the fate of B2 visa is known, they will apply for H1B. I think company is putting me in trouble by not applying H1B for me now. Can I stay in US for 180 days after expiry of H1B? Will that out of status stay will affect anyway obtaining H1B later? Can any one suggest what are the options so that I can get my status back and work with the company?
