  • H1B Consular Processing Designated Consulate

My wife is currently on OPT. Her company filed her H1B earlier this year and it was approved recently. However while H1B was pending, she had to travel back to our home country and then entered back again on OPT. As a result her change of status to h1b was rejected and she has been approved for consular processing.

The approval notice mentions a specific consulate in our home country for consular processing. Now my question is if it is possible for her to instead go to a US consulate in Canada to get the consular processing done and get the H1B stamped. I have read many threads which mention that getting H1B stamped in US is fine as long as the degree is from US. My wife has a masters from US so she is fine on that end. However the main concern is that the approval notice mentions a specific consulate.

I would appreciate any input here!

Yes, she can apply at any consulate.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
