Pink Slip (221g) issue with H4

Hi All,

My name is Sweta Abhishek Sharma, I went for visa interview on 9th Jan 2013 along with my husband who was prime applicant for H1. Consulate officer approved his H1B and took his passport, but for me she gave a pink slip 221g and asked to go to 31 no. counter.

An Indian lady there asked questions about my siblings, where i work and what is my height and told me that it will take 7-8 weeks to get my passport.

I read in so many forums that it takes sometimes 1 year also to get a passport.

I work for an IT company and holds a same experience as my husband. does working in IT industry falls under TAL?

Can anyone please share their reviews on this process as how much time it usually takes. they told it will take 90 days but i am not sure about this.

I haven't received any emails from them regarding any verification.

This looks like a black hole to me.

Please share your valuable experience with me.

What is the subject you have majored in during your education? Have you filed any H1B/L1B earlier?

I have done B.Tech (Electronics and Communication) and working as Software Engineer in one of the MNC. I never applied for H1/L1 earlier.

Unfortunately there is no premium processing for H4s there is not much you can do at this point. You just have to wait the period out.

My only concerns is how long i have to wait.
Mu husband is traveling this month end and life after that will be not so easy for both of us.

I just wanted to know what are the possible ways we can do a follow-up with them. Since it is only a week passed i don't want to followup now because i also understand the process does take its own time. But I just wanted to know that can we do a followup with them if yes then how we can do this.

My wife also got pink slip for H4 sometime back. In general H4 visa cannot be denied without proper reason since it would be a human right violation.
Were you asked to submit any documents? Either way your case should be resolved in a few weeks' time.
Everything in immigration is a black hole!! Cheer up and enjoy your time here.

Off topic...does anyone know about the type of verification that will be done in India...if one applies for h4 and to avoid below situation of processing does not reveal job details..is it advisable to do so?

Hi,

Not sure though what kind of verification are done in India. I will advise to revel everything to US consulate, where one working and other stuff because if somehow they come to know then they may cancel the H1B also. Again i am not sure about this but it is better to be true.

can someone please suggest if this is a good time to contact US cunsulate any how many ways we can contact them. The email id mentioned on pink slip says after 90 days...but there should have some ways to contact them before 90 days, if yes then how.
