Time limit to work in US

Dear Immihelp,

I heard from someone that we can work maximum upto 6 years in any Visa in US. Suppose I used my 2.5 years on L1-B somewhere around 2007-2009 and I came back again to US in Oct '2010 with H1 B so by that calculation Can I only work till Mar'2014 (rest 3.5 years)?

Please hlep me out to understand how can I extend my stay more than 6 years my company is not interested to process my GC.

H1B beyond 6 years is only possible if you are a beneficiary of GC petition.

Or leave US for one full year after completion of 6 Years stay in US and apply for H1 after 1 Full year completion in order to get fresh 6 Years.
