H1 max years when converted from L1-A.

Hi,

I will be completing 4.5 years on L1-A by this october. If I move to H1 how many years I will be left on H1. Will it be 1.5 yrs or 2.5 yrs?

Since L1A max years is 7 years, some one said I will still have 2.5 yrs even though I move to H1..Is that correct?

Can you please advice?

1.5 Years. L1+H1 can at max be for 6 Years irrespective of L1B or L1A.

Another thing, if your GC is not initiated 365 days before 6th year completion you will not be able to request for extension beyond 6th Year so advisable to convert to H1 this coming Oct and to file GC also ASAP if you want to continue your stay beyond 6th Year.
