What is the Validity of I797c? can i reuse my I797C in 2013 H1B visa?

What is the Validity of I797c? i Had my H1B filed in 2008, but my company did not give me papers, Can i use this in 2013 H1B? what benefit do i get now using my previous I797C?

Hello Sir,

I had my H1B filed in 2008 and my company in US sent me soft copy of my I797C to me and later backed out in giving the paper for further processing.

Now in 2013 i tried for H1B filing through a different company? i informed him about my past processing and my soft copy of I797C.

He has informed me that i will not be capped again in 2013, as i have already capped in 2008.

Is that true and what is the benefit i am getting here because of my previous I797C? he also says i can travel to US well before october.

c is generally the receipt notice. If the petition was actually approved, then you will be eligible for cap-exempt petition.
