Education : MS Computer Science at a public State university
Fall 2009 - Jan 2012 (early spring graduation)
Work History :
Fall 2009 - May 2011 - employed at University
May 2011 - August 2011 - on CPT
September 2011 - January 2012 - pre completion OPT
January 2012 - September 2012 - post completion OPT
September 2012 - February 2, 2014 - OPT STEM Extension
F1 visa expiration date : June 2014
My employer filed for H1B petition on April 1, 2013. Today I got news from the lawyer that my petition was not selected in the lottery.
I would like to continue working fulltime after my OPT STEM Extension completes on February 2, 2014. I have come to the conclusion that the only way I can continue working is by enrolling in another degree and work on CPT.
My question is:
If I apply for Masters in another university(University B) for Fall 2013, I would get a new I-20 from this university. Also, I would have to talk to DSO at my current university(University A) to transfer the SEVIS to new university. If I get new I-20 from University B, is my OPT STEM extension still valid? Can I continue working on OPT STEM extension from Fall 2013 till February 2014?
