My husband's employer called him into the office last week and told him that he cannot afford to keep him anymore. My husband is an H1B visa holder and we are here on an H4.This came as a shock to us. We have no income as I am not allowed to work and we do not have family here in the US. Our children have settled in so well and we would like the opportunity of staying in the US. We panicked and contacted an immigration lawyer who advised is that if the new RPI bill is passed, we do qualify...it seems. what is confusing is that some parts of the bill states if you entered ILLEGALLY and some parts state if you entered legally but is now out of status. It is the Registered Provisional Immigrant Status (RPI). It is a 10 year path to citizenship and hopefully we fit all the requirements. Is there anybody else on the forum who would know more about this?
