L1 to H1 Conversion

I have a L1 (Blanket) visa valid till April 2015. I am in India currently. Is it possible to convert this L1 to H1 B (by different employer) while I am in India and go to US on H1 B?

How long the process will take?

The visa are not interchangeable. If you never had H1 in past 6 years then the earliest you can get anew H1 is Oct 2014 as the quota for this year is already over.

10 years ago is of no use. H1 is not possible before Oct 2014 unless its for a non profit organization. The only way would be to ask your current employer to send you on L1.

Thanks for your response. After going to US on current L1, can it be converted to H1 and change to different employer?
