how to know H1 B petition number ?

hi all, require your small favour.

my previous employer has filed a H1 B petition for me last year and it has been approved.
They have not shared the petition number or the application number or the receipt number with me.

I have left the organization in December 2012 , and now i want to transfer the petition number to my new employer to explore opportunities.
I have 2 questions :

1) How do i know my petition number ?
2) If i know the petition number is it possible to transfer the petition to my new employer ?

1.Only the employer or USCIS knows the petition number so you have to approach the employer in order to know it.
2. yes if you are absolutely sure and next employer is willing to take your word for it.
