  • H1b transfer

I have an H1b from an Indian IT consultancy firm and I want to leave this firm and get another job with a normal company.

What I want to know is..

    1) Does the new company need to sponsor my H1b again? Will they need to go through a long process involving lawyers? Or is it an easy process?

The reason I am asking this question is ...most companies do not wish to sponsor H1b visa and the easiest way to get it is via the indian consulting firms. Now I want to get a normal job in my field (which is not IT) and if I approach medium sized businesses, will they now wish to transfer my h1b or is it a long process that they might stil be uncomfortable with?

Please help me out! Thanks in advance!!

If you have valid H1B approved petition, Yes, you can transfer the petition to your new employer (Technically new employer would apply for a new petition using your old approved petition to avoid cap count).

If you have valid visa stamping on your passport, you can travel using that even though it has your old company name on it.

    Hope it helps!!
