H4 clarification required

I am appearing for my H1B visa at Mumbai consulate this month. My wife and two minor children do not have passports and applied for, which are expected by mid of Sept'05. By God's grace If I get my H1 Visa,

a) Can I apply for H4 Visa for my family before I leave for US.
b) If so, what kind of documentation would be required (By that time my original I-797 would be submitted to consulate for getting my H1 Visa)

Please advice.

Hi,
Just take copies of the entire H1B package before you go for the H1B stamping. Best is for all of you to attend the same interview. You will certainly save your wife a lot of trouble of learning all the intricacies of H1B!
