  • 'Single' to 'Married' status in visa and passport

    Hi,

I have my H1B visa interview next week. I got married in 2012 but didn’t change my marital status from ‘Single’ to ‘Married’ in my passport.

    1. Do I need to change my marital status in my passport now? If I don’t change, will it affect my interview by any chance?
    2. What do I fill as marital status in DS-160 form? Single or Married?

    Please reply at the earliest!!!

    Thanks,
    J!

    1. Its not required to change in the passport as you got passport before marriage. You can change it during next passport renewal. It should not affect the visa decision. Do carry your marriage certificate and photos.
    2. In DS-160 you have to mention 'Married'.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
