Are different classes of H1B?

My current employer sponsored me to get an H1B just rigth after I graduated with my Master's. The visa was approved and I started working with them righ away, but things are not going well. When I asked the attorney about when were I would be able to transfer to another job, he told me that "because of the type of H1B you have, you are not allowed to transfer jobs. If you want to do so, you need to get a new sponsor and start the whole process again". I never heard about different classes of H1b.... I need some help. Thank you.

It is possible to get your job transfered from H1B to another H1B once you find a job and ask the new employer to file for the H1B transfer. But your present employer should not have taken any steps to cancel the present H1B.You should have been in valid H1B status to apply for a transfer.
There are many kinds of H visa, but only one kind of H1B1. Do verify with any attorney, other than your co. attorney.
