The company that I worked for starting April filed an H1B visa for me around May, and last Wednesday, I got let go. I was told that I will get my last paycheck on Sept 11, 2013. That is 9 days from now. I also found out that my H1B visa is still pending on approval. I know that it should take around 3-4 months, so I should hear something soon. My question is... how many days do I have left legally in the US? How long can I stay and look for another job? What should be the next steps if I don't find a job by Sept 11? What happens when another company hires me before Sept 11? Can it still be transferred even though the visa is still pending approval? I appreciate you taking the time. Thank you in advance!
