I94 not in passport

I last entered USA on 05/2009 and got I94 card stapled in passport. My H1B visa was valid until end of 09/2009. I applied for new passport and got it on 7th of 08/2009. I hadn't paid attention then, but now i realized that they didn't return my I94 card when i submitted it for getting new passport. I do have a scanned copy of it. Since then i haven't left USA and i am now on 7th year of H1B. Also its same situation with my wife's I94 under H4. Here are my doubts:
- Now is my I94 the bottom portion of I797? It has the same number as the I94 i had in passport.
- To apply for UK transit visa they ask for original I94. What should i submit?

CBP is not issuing paper i94 anymore so i doubt original i 94 would be any problem now.
