Help reg Drop box vs Interview

Just had few questions regarding stamping for H1B and H4 and hope someone could help Me with the below, my new h1b (7th year) begins DEC 2013 - 2106, My eixisting H1B is valid and stamped until Nov 2013 and I'm planning to go to Chennai for h1b and h4 extension stamping together



1. If i go for stamping in November for H1B starting Dec 2013 - 2016, will my existing H1B stamping be cancelled.

2 If my new H1B stamping gets delayed , can i request passport from consulate and keep my old visa as i plan to travel back in November to USA

3. Which would be faster drop box or in-person interview (I currently work full-time and had stamping with same employer back in 2011)

4. My old passport expired..but visa is still valid in it and i have new passport...so I'am a little curious if i need to choose to go in person interview or drop box...also can i go for interview without OFC appointment for fingerprint...do i have to take both appointments or can i do only consulate appointment for in-person
