status of h4 visa stamp after L1 visa stamping

Today I got my H4 visa stamping done at Chennai Consulate and I was planning to join my spouse in the next coming weeks as dependent. Now, my employer wants me to apply for a L1-b visa stamp by next week and wants me to work in US.
Now my concern is - will the US Visa consulate reject my current H4 visa stamping at the time of issuing a new L1- visa stamp in my passport.
Also for some reason, if my L1 visa stamp request gets denied will they also cancel my current H4 visa stamping as well.

Hi Akila Sriram,
If L1 is issued, then H4 will surely be cancelled without prejudice. But if L1 is not issued then H4 may not be cancelled. Try calling or writing to the NIV section of the respective consulate mentioning your query, and see if they respond.
