Transfer companies

Hi,

I have got my visa stamped and my potential travel to my H1-B sponsor is Jan 2014. I am still looking out for better opportunities and get a H1-B transfer. will I be able to transfer to another employer before I get to the US or do I have to start working for the (sponsor) employer before I can transfer?
