  • Name in H1b documents

    Hi Veena and all,

My name is "Amitkumar Anurag". But my US employer filed my petition as
"Amit Kumar Anurag"(space inbetween Amit and Kumar). All the documents( offer letter, I797, I129 etc) which he had sent me had just arrived and seem to bear this name.
And all my previous employee documents has Amitkumar. Probably there was a slight gap in the name written in passport, which would have made the US employer to assume that there is a space.

Will this be a very serious problem? I'm appearing for consulate interview coming monday (Sep 26th). Do I need to cancel this appointment (which would make the case miserable as I require to join the company immediately) and wait for a modified petition?

Your help is urgently required. Please clarify.

    Thank you,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
I think this is a very minor error, which the consular officer may excuse. I don't think you should cancel the appointment just for this sake. Just fill out all the forms correctly according to the passport.

It will be great if you can update this forum on the outcome of your visa interview and stamping.

    All the Best.
