plzz help...Original i797 not returned after interview.

hello all,
today i went for my H4 visa at Delhi consulate. After few questions, the officer approved my visa and took my passport, DS 160 form and original i797 and returned remaining docs saying he dont need those.. now I'm in dilemma if the i797 should be returned back to me or the officer kept it by mistake. I did not ask for it because I was in impression that may be this is the way of their visa processing. I know i cant travel to US without my original i797. what I'm supposed to do if its lost??? will it take long time to issue new copy of petition??

Please people help me with this as my travel date is approaching soon.

Wait and see if they return it with the passport. If not, contact them.
