I am an Indian citizen and I am planning to get baptized this year, given this I will be registering with a different name in the gazette office and will need to get a new passport - given this, how will it affect my current stamped H1B that does not expire until 2.5 years later also I am in the process of filing my GC. I need to do this as I am getting married in a church and would like to clarify \ know the challenges with the name change on the work permit etc. Will it be like i have to carry both the old and the new passports? Also it will be really helpful to know if this process can be initiated from the indian embassy in the US.
