Applying H-4 for my wife

Hi Folks,

My employer is filing H1B for me. Is it required to apply H4 for my wife at the same time?
My Lawyer is asking additional fee which I need need to pay from my pocket, which I want to save if I can.
Can I apply H4 by myself without using lawyer? I went through websites. It looks like simply to apply H-4 to me.

Please advise.

Where is your spouse currently located? If she is not here in the USA, then you can apply for H4 visa interview later on your own to appear for an interview in any US consulates.
