Query on change of employer after I140 approval

Hello Sir,

I am on H1B, my I140 was approved on Jan 2014. While being considered for a new employment the new company is insisting that i wait for 180 days after the I140 is approved for them to take me in.

Please note my H1B has been renewed for 3 years till 2017 with the I140.

Kindly confirm whether it is a compulsory rule that I can change employer only after 180 days of I140 being approved.

No waiting period, you can switch employers immediately if you have a copy of your I-140 approval notice in your hands. Consult an attorney for exact advice on your case.

Do not change employer immediately,It is not advisable.
