Can we enter the US for the first time on an h1b visa with just a copy of the i797?

I want to know if we can enter the US for the first time with just a copy of I797, instead of the original. I didn't need the original to get the visa, and would rather that the original documents to stay in the US to avoid delays.
Does anybody now? Thanks!

Dont know what delays you talking about? I personally believe the petition is safer in your own hand, after all, isnt your passport/stamped visa with you too.
