Strange problem on Passport

Hi,

on my Passport sex is wrriten as MALE instead of FEMALE. I got my passport 3 yrs back in india, when I asked them. They just wrote inside the passport on one of the pages, "male should be read as female", and stamped the seal on it. After that I for my F-1 visa 3 yrs back and got it. Now I graduated and am on OPT and my H-1 got approved and will be going for stamping soon.

My question is authorities are not saying anything because no one is obersving it. But it scares me that it should not become a casue for VISA rejection later on. I don't want to suffer due to a clerical error.

Should I go to the Indian consulate here in US and ask for a new passport???

Iam not too sure what happens as per the rules, but As you said you have an attestation saying Male should be read as Female, that should put you out of problem. There wouldnt be any other proof than official attestation as per the jury.
