H1B multiple employers

Two employers have filed a new H1B in COS from H4. One got approved. I dont know about the other. When I called my other employer, they said they knew I have another petition which is filed. (I am assuming that is based on some USCIS response). How can they know that? If the H1B gets rejected in lottery and if another employer has already filed for the same person, will the fees not be refunded?

If the petition did not get select in the lottery, Employer would have received the money for sure. There is no way that USCIS would let them know that someone else have also applied for you.
