  • H4 Visa extension for the dependent who is currently not in USA

My H1-B Visa expired on Dec-2014 but I have submitted my H1B extension and it's approved. I submitted the extension only for me and my kid who is currently at USA with me. But I haven't submitted anything for my spouse who is currently at Canada. But he is holding the H4 Visa which is expired on the same day when mine was expired.

Can you let me know the steps to get the H4 extended for my spouse?

Upon your extension approval you would get a new I797 with a new I94. Your spouse should use that to book an appointment and go the US consulate in the country she is staying in order to get a new H4 visa in the passport.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
