H1B: can DS 160 and I 797 have different passport numbers?

Hi,

I have got my I-797B which has a passport number mentioned. As this passport is expiring in the next six months, I applied for a new one and got the same. When filling the DS 160 form, can I(should I) mention the new passport number? I believe this will be the passport considered for stamping the visa. Please advise.

I got my visa stamped. And the answer to the above query is to provide the new passport number.
