Consulting for old H1B employer

Hi guys,

I'm in the process of moving jobs from employer A to employer B (B is transferring my H1B) but employer A still wants me to work on their project, potentially as a consultant/contractor. Their old H1B is still valid for me so is it legal for me to do consulting for them?
