Can travel on B1/B2 while H1b is processing or approved before 10 days of start date

Dear everyone,

I have job offer from US, with start date of 1st July. My employer’s attorney will be lodging my H1B visa application-premium processing in next two weeks. I also have a B1/B2 visa valid for 10 years.

I understand that I can enter US only 10 days before the start date (that is 21st June) on H1b. My question is can I enter US before 21st June on B1/B2 on say 1st June as I wanted sometime to find accommodation, settle before I start my job.

If it is possible-what do I have to do before I start working to switch to H1b?

I would truly appreciate your help.

Did you previously have an H1? or is the employer cap exempt?

I would not suggest you enter on B1/B2 as then the employer would have to file a COS from B1/B2 to H1, and USCIS does not easily approve B1/B2 to H1 COS without valid justification.
