Going to India for stamping with H1B stamp expired through Frankfurt

Hi,

I am going to india for H1B stamping. This is my extension. I have my old H1B stamp expired on my passport.I have my new I797 that will valid for next 2 years. My flight is from Boston to Frankfurt and Frankfurt to India.I have two questions below.Please help me out with the answers.
1) Can i travel through Frankfurt with a h1b stamp expired ?
2) If i get a transit visa for frankfurt will that help ?

Kamal, I was in the same boat 2yrs ago. I strongly advise you to get an airport transit visa from the German Consulate/Embassy.

The chances of immigration officials checking your passport for Transit visa in Frankfurt is very low, but if they do and see you don't have a valid transit visa or U.S. visa, you could end up in trouble. To be safe, I'd strongly request you to get the transit visa.
