H1B visa valid till Sep 2017, Passport expring in Oct 2015, i94 expiring in oct 2015

Hi All,

I have a valid H1b till sep 2017. However, my passport as well as i94 is expiring in Oct 2015. Also, while entering the US after my H1b Stamping the immigration officer has put in the class h1b and also written down validity date till Oct 15 based on passport expiration date.

Now, i am switching companies and have filed for a new h1b. My question is will i get an extension on my i94 with a new h1b? I guess not, right?

I am planning to get my passport renewed after my new H1b is approved ( have received the receipt notice today). My question do i need to plan a trip outside to get an i94 beyond Oct 15 once i get my passport renewed or is there a work around ?

The petition may be granted beyond passport expiry but your new I-94 along with the new petition would still be given till Oct 2015 and you would need to file an extension request again after getting the passport renewed.
