  • Receipt numbers in DS 160 after visa extension and job change

    Hello,

I was on H1 visa with Emp A with visa expiration Sep 30 2014. I obtained visa extension from Emp A in Aug 2014. I changed my job later and my H1 transfer from Emp B was completed in Nov 2014.

Now, I am going to my home country and would have to get my visa stamped. My question is, while filling DS 160 form, should I specify both receipt numbers ?,

    (1) Receipt number for my Visa extension from Emp A
    (2) Receipt number for my H1 transfer from Emp B ?

The reason I ask this is, since my previous visa stamp expired in Sept 2014, the receipt number from Emp A for visa transfer would prove my legal status for the period between Oct - Nov 2014 before I joined Emp B. So, should this be mentioned in my DS 160 ? Thanks in advance.

You should quote the number on B's I797 petition. Legal status between Oct-Nov 2014 would be proven with the combination of paystubs as well as an approved petition for that duration.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
