H4 re-stamping without H1 re-stamped

Hi,

I m on H4 and my husband is on H1-B visa. We have got our visa extended and have a valid I797 till 2017 but stamped visa was till May,2015(expired now). I'm planning on travelling to India alone and getting my H4 re-stamped. I read somewhere that I need to carry a copy of my husband's valid H1 visa . Does that mean that his H1 needs to be stamped in order to get my H4 stamped or just a valid I797 will do?

Your spouse's valid I-797 will do. Your spouse's valid H1B visa is not required for you to get your H4 visa stamped.
