URGENT:H1B stamping - in Canada or India? PLS HELP

Dear Friends,

I was in H4 and switched to H1. My prev H4 visa stamp and the I-94 in the passport got expired.

If I need to go for stamping, can I go to Canada for get it stamped or I have to go to India only?

(some say that per new rules, if the visa stamp in the passport got expired then one should go to the home country to get the new visa stamped )

Pls clarify as I have an appointment in Canada middle of this month.

Since you have Valid I-797 , you can go to Canada and get it stamped.
Your H4 visa does not matter.
You are on H1B status as of now.

Please share your experience with us, since I also have booked my appt in Canada Toronto in March 2006.
