  • H1b Visa Stamping, does it have to be done in home country?

    I have a H1b work visa,
but I've not gotten the visa stamp
(First time with the H1b visa, my previous stamp was for F1 student visa)

We have this mandatory national service in my country which I have not completed,
but I don't wish to lose my job at this point just to complete the service,
and yet I have an important matter to attend to outside the US in a few months,
since I don't have the visa stamp yet,
I wonder if it has to be obtained from my home country, or is there another way

    Thank you!

If you have completed your studies in U.S (I guess you did since you had a F1 visa before), you can apply for the H1B visa at any U.S consulate except Mexico (Mexico doesn't allow change of status stamping). Whichever consulate you are planning to apply, do check their website to make sure they are okay with the change of status stamping (in your case F1 to H1B).
Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.
