Whats my Current Status?

I was on H4 Visa in US and a company filed my H1B visa in 2014. My petition was approved and was eligible to work from October 2014. In the mean time I conceived and was not able to join the work. Even though I got it approved, I could not join the company and did not work for them and I don't have the visa stamped as well. So what would be my current status? H1 or H4?

If H1 was approved as COS and your approval notice (I797) came in with a new I-94 then you are on H1 and appear to be out of status as you are neither working nor getting paid , nor on any type of leave.
