H4 travel while H1B extension is in progress

I have a valid H1B, whcih gets expired on 30th of September 2015. I have submitted the petition for Visa extension. My family is in India and having a valid H4 visa. They have never come to US. Now, they would like to visit me just for two weeks, this month. Is it possible for them to visit me during my visa extension is under processing? Will the port of entry allow them to enter US as their visa is getting expired on 30th of September?

Please advise.

Possible as long as their H4 visa in the passport is valid. They will need to carry a copy of your existing H1B approval notice. Also let them carry a copy of your H1B extension receipt notice. Mots likely they will get their I-94 only till your current approval notice's expiry date, which means, they cannot stay past Sept 30. If the officer at the POE asks, they can mention that they will be leaving before Sept 30.
