H1B visa issued but passport not recieved

Hi,

I gave my interview for H1B stamping at New Delhi consulate on 30th July, 2015. After few questions about the petitioner and my college, VO said congratulations your visa is approved and you will get your passport in 2 working days.

However, it's been 4 days and my passport is shown to be with embassy only. Though, the status on CEAC shows issued, but I don't know why I haven't got my passport. I am just very restless after reading about cases going into admin processing after successful interview. I am too stressed as I need to join office by next week.

Does it take so long to get the passport? I thought we get it in 1 or 2 days time. Please if anyone can share their experience.

It is way too early to panic. It takes about 10 days to 2 weeks. Be a little patient.

I know, but I read it somewhere that if you don't get your passport in a week's time then there is a reason.to worry as it might have got stuck with embassy.

I am just feeling helpless. I am a teacher and came for some family emergency. My school.is opening from monday and I have to go back and join.

I understand your concern. But there is nothing much you could do. Generally, it takes up to 2 weeks to get the passport back. There is no reason to panic before that and it will not help. Like I said, just be a little more patient and hopefully you will get the passport back with the visa stamped.
