Hello,
Now that PIO and OCI is merged; and it is just OCI card, this is definitely a good move by the goverment of India.
To apply for Indian citizenship; an OCI card holder must be in India for 5 years and continuously a year before applying. But as per my understanding US citizenship cannot be renounced before 18 years (with rare exception). So, does that mean an american citizen cannot become Indian citizen before 18 years ??
Also, what are the problems you faced on OCI when you went back to India; specially for your kids ? Have you managed to become Indian citizen smoothly by revoking your US citizenship ?
Thanks
