H1B visa stamping for work starting 1 oct 2006

Hi

A company in US has agreed to file H1b petition in April 2006 with start date of 1 Oct 2006. The employer has agreed to do premium processing. So if I get the H1b approval by mid of April, can I take an H1b visa interview appointment at Chennai consulate anytime before 1 Oct 2006 (say in August) and be in US by 1 Oct 2006? Or, is it that I can go to consulate for H1b visa interview only after 1 Oct 2006?

No need to wait till 1-Oct-2006

You don't have to wait till Oct 06, you can take the appointment now...if visa is granted you can enter US after 01-Oct-2006.

You can go for the visa stamping interview anyday after you get your approval, but you will be allowed at the POE only 10 days prior to Octber 1st.
